Modification - design and certification
Changing regulations place an increasing burden on civil and military aircraft operators to ensure their fleets continue to meet today’s exacting standards.
Our extensive aircraft design and manufacturing experience, coupled with our certification authority, allows us to make a wide variety of modifications efficiently and effectively.
Design experience
Having operated as an organisation with equivalent capabilities and approvals to an OEM in the aerospace industry for many years, we have built up significant design experience. This includes modifications to:
- Avionic systems
- Primary structure
- Mechanical and fluid systems
- Interior configurations
Whatever the requirement, we work with you to define a tailored, cost effective design solution.
Manufacturing capability
Once designs have been completed, modifications can be carried out at our Cambridge facilities; allowing you to make the most of our manufacturing and ground/flight test capabilities.
Alternatively, we are usually able to carry out work at your own facilities if this is appropriate.
In addition to a team of 300 engineers in Cambridge, we have a further 100 engineers based in our centres in Canada, Australia and the Netherlands.
Certification
Marshall can provide both military (DAOS) and civil (EASA21J) design approvals. The scope of our design approval is wider than many other organisations – so many minor modifications can be carried out without recourse to EASA.
For other modifications, our relationships with the civil and military airworthiness authorities help ensure a smooth, professional service.
